Dear Friends, For the last 12 years the Peachtree String Quartet has been proud to present our concert series at the Garden Hills Recreation Center. We have also performed and recorded all over the state of Georgia and in Washington DC. During the 2020 Covid crisis, PSQ continued performing, heading outdoors and later, when conditions allowed, we chose larger venues where we could insure social distancing for our audiences. Normally, around this time of year we would be announcing our 13th season but current circumstances require that we take a pause. Our performances at the Garden Hills Recreation Center were produced almost entirely by Barry Levine who passed away this summer. Barry's responsibilities were varied and too numerous to list here. He, along with his wife Carol Shipley, worked voluntarily and tirelessly for weeks prior to every concert. On concert days it was "game on" as he prepared the space, later greeted virtually every audience member and remained until everyone had departed. It is thanks to my dear friend Barry that we had our very first concert at the Rec Center in April 2012. It was his idea. Nobody then could have ever imagined that a 501(c)3 would be formed, that we would be recording in Symphony Hall and performing for thousands of listeners for over a dozen years. A fervent promoter, Barry relished the way our music brought all kinds of folks together. He was the proud presenter of the Peachtree String Quartet. As we take a pause now and evaluate our options for continuing, I wish to thank all of our patrons and of course especially our sponsors who have made our success possible. Thank you to all of our fans and friends, Christopher Pulgram . |
